I'm not arguing with you and I think indoor you have a very valid point, but I bowl well to short mats outdoor. On longer mats I find narrow bowls are more suspect to bump, holes, ridges on the green. I can bowl a great line, only for the bowl to hit a little hole and the line is lost. My bigger bias bowls, and our skips bowl too don't seem to be as effected. I think so much is in our minds and most are always trying to find an easy fix.

I played on a rink yesterday (Sunday league) and tried standing on a different part of the mat. My skip said it was the best he had seen me play, and that was on a poor green, with my VS bowls? Interesting I think?
